This is the official blog for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Parking Advisory Committee. The purpose of the blog is to inform UAF faculty, staff, students and community members on committee work and to provide a mechanism for feedback and comments.
The fact that staff have to pay for a permit to park half a mile away is complete BS. On top of that, what is even more BS is the fact that there is a $60 dollar penalty for parking in these areas without a decal! Not to mention its summer, quit robbing us UAF parking!!!!!!!!!!
I understand that fees are charged, tickets written for violations, and somehow there has to be income to pay for these services. I can accept that. What I do not understand however, is why employees at the off-site Administrative Building on College have to pay for parking, at the same rate as on-campus employees but other off-campus sites do not have to pay for a parking permit. How is this equitable?
What are the total number of parking spaces at UAF?
COMMUNITY POLL: How big of a role does parking play in deciding whether or not to attend an event or function on campus?
STUDENT POLL: What is your opinion of the current structure for student parking decal rates?
FACULTY POLL: If you do not currently own a parking decal, would you be willing to pay a minimal annual transportation fee to help offset the cost of UAF shuttle services?
STAFF POLL: If you do not currently own a parking decal, would you be willing to pay a minimal annual transportation fee to help offset the cost of UAF shuttle services?
What issues should the parking advisory committee be reviewing and making recommendations on? (You can choose more than one)
I like the fact that "ADA-accessible parking violation will increase from $120 to $250". This is always an area that needs better enforcement.
